Mary Anning visits St Michael’s

CHILDREN from St Michael’s Primary School in Lyme Regis were given an insight into the town’s past last week, when famous fossil hunter ‘Mary Anning’ paid a visit to Key Stage 1 pupils.

St Michael’s staff member Lin Paterson played the role of Mary, teaching the children about her life during the 1800s and how she made important scientific discoveries on the Jurassic Coast, including the first full skeleton of an ichthyosaur.

The children were also able to pass around that can be found on Lyme Regis and Charmouth beaches.
