MEMBERS of Lyme Regis Art Society are preparing for their annual exhibition – the highlight of the club’s calendar and the culmination of members’ efforts over the past 12 months.
The society has held demonstrations in nearly every available media and the enthusiasm and expertise of the visiting artists have made 2018 a very memorable year. Some have provided workshops where members were able to carry out trials of their techniques and have always shown the group enormous patience and encouragement.
Now it is the turn of members to display their work, with the exhibition opening in the Town Mill’s Malthouse Gallery on May 26 and running until June with free admission. There will be a preview party on the evening of May 25.
A spokesperson for the society said: “It is always a thrill for us to finally see the whole collection of work up on the gallery walls.
“Although in different media, different frames and different sizes, somehow it all fits together to make a quite dazzling display.
“One of the pleasant sides of stewarding (apart from the cake in the Mill Café !) is hearing the appreciative remarks made by the many visitors who come through the doors over the two weeks of the exhibition.
“We are also always ready to welcome any enquiries about the society itself and hope that the wide variety of work will attract new members.”
Lyme Regis Art Society meets on alternate Tuesdays at the Woodmead Halls from 2pm to 4pm from late September until the end of March, after which parking becomes an issue as the tourist season gets underway.
