THE bunting’s up in Broad Street so it must officially be summer! I even enjoyed my first proper dip of the year in the sea last week – still pretty chilly, mind you.
The new summer edition of our popular Lyme Life magazine has just hit the streets, including features on all the upcoming festivals, special events and things to do this season. As always, there’s plenty to look forward to in Lyme Regis.
This week has mostly been spent obsessively checking the weather forecast, as I’m among the organising team behind Lyme Regis Sausage & Cider Festival, to be held at the football club’s Davey Fort ground in Charmouth Road tomorrow (Saturday, July 6). Fingers cross it’s all looking good!
The festival is our biggest annual fundraiser, having raised a total of £10,000 over the past two years for the club’s ongoing development scheme, and has firmly made a name for itself on Lyme Regis’ calendar of favourite events.
This year we’re hoping it will be bigger and better than ever, having attracted significant interest on social media over the past few months.
We’ll have an impressive selection of 24 ciders on offer, plus fully-stocked bars inside and outside, and a Pimm’s and prosecco tent if you fancy something a bit special.
A variety of Colyton Butchers’ award-winning sausages will be sizzling on the barbecue, plus extra snacks and ice creams will be served from the club’s kitchen.
A full programme of live music will include the Lyme Luggers ukulele group, local singer Harvey Causley, indie punk band Dark Matter and the popular DeltaTango7 will take our headline slot once again.
You can even bring along the kids and keep them busy on our bouncy castle and giant inflatable slide.
Gates open at 2pm and entry is free – so I hope to see you all there!
