ACTRESS and broadcaster Elaine Paige was good fun to photograph at the Chelsea Flower Show.
The ice-breaker for me was that she had previously ordered a photograph of mine she had seen in a national newspaper, which she remembered, so when I asked her to pose amongst the flowers she was fine, except every time she heard the camera click she ran up to me to see the picture on the screen! She eventually showed me the one she preferred.
Everyone loves the Chelsea Flower Show. Tens of thousands visit the spectacle over the week and, for the press, it all kicks off on the Monday which is designated ‘Press Day.’
I always endeavour to arrive early, that way you can make contact with the design creators just before judging. Nothing much changes as far as I’m concerned; most of the stands and entrants are in the same place every year.
I spend a lot of time looking for entrants from the South West, and there are quite a number and quite a few gold medals. I always endeavour to mix the photographs between serious gardeners, celebrities and the fun things that happen during the show.
